HOW MUCH SHOULD I SPEND ON AN ENGAGEMENT RING?
This is a personal decision; only you know what makes sense to you and in your situation. I suggest that primary focus be on the centerstone.

WHAT IS A DIAMOND CERTIFICATE?
Many diamonds over one half carat today are being sent to an independent gemological laboratory to be “certified”. This is a report describing the stone in detail, including a “plot” of the stone’s blemishes and/or inclusions. In the report will be weight, color, clarity, measurements, cut, etc. Some labs are committed to high standards, while others can be more lax in grading stones. Therefore, price comparison between similar stones from different reporting laboratories will not be an “apples to apples” comparison. A certificate or report does not, in and of itself, guarantee a beautiful stone. Any quality of stone can be certified. I do not recommend making a buying decision based entirely on the lab report; visual inspection is necessary. I cannot stress this enough.

WHY IS THERE SUCH A WIDE PRICE RANGE FOR A GIVEN WEIGHT OF DIAMOND?
Many variables affect the price of a diamond—the shape, weight, color, clarity, “cut”, the reporting laboratory, any enhancements to the stone, such as laser drilling or fracture filling. You know the old saying. . . If you are shopping around and one price sounds too good to be true, chances are that it IS too good to be true, the stone could be too shallow, too deep, etc. I discuss stones in detail so that you understand each factor that makes up a beautiful diamond.

SHOULD I INSURE MY PURCHASE?
I provide an insurance replacement appraisal for each item sold, along with a list of questions to ask your insurance agent on covering jewelry. I suggest that you discuss these questions with your agent at the time you insure the item rather than waiting until if or when there is a loss.

DO YOU MAINTAIN CONFIDENTIALITY?
Your name and/or personal information will never be shared, given, or sold to anyone.
